Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 June 2026

These Terms govern your use of the uniqueid.tech website (the "Site"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

The Site is operated by an independent developer based in New Zealand (the "Operator"). The Operator may be contacted at feedback@uniqueid.tech.

1. The Service

The Site provides browser-based tools for generating various unique identifier formats, including UUIDs (versions 3 through 7), NanoID, and ULID, along with related educational content (collectively, the "Service").

All identifier generation runs entirely within your web browser. No identifiers, inputs, or related data are transmitted to or stored by the Operator. The Service does not require an account and does not collect personally identifiable information from users in connection with identifier generation. See the privacy policy for details.

2. Acceptable Use

You may use the Service for any lawful purpose. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any portion of the Service or to the systems or networks connected to it;
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by deploying automated tools or scripts that place unreasonable load on the Site;
  • Use the Service to generate identifiers for the purpose of fraud, impersonation, harassment, or any other unlawful or harmful activity;
  • Scrape, copy, or republish substantial portions of the Site's content without permission, except as permitted by the licensing terms in Section 5.

3. No Warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." The Operator makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the Service, including without limitation:

  • That the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time;
  • That identifiers generated by the Service will be suitable for any particular purpose;
  • That the Service's educational content is current, accurate, or complete;
  • That the Service is fit for use in any specific application, including security-sensitive, safety-critical, or regulated contexts.

You are solely responsible for evaluating the suitability of the Service for your intended use. In particular, while the Service uses cryptographically secure random number generators where supported by the browser, you should independently verify suitability before using generated identifiers in security-sensitive contexts such as authentication tokens, cryptographic keys, or unique credentials.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, whether based on contract, tort, statute, or any other legal theory, and whether or not the Operator has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

The Operator's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the actual losses you have incurred or NZ$50, whichever is lower.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities; in such jurisdictions, the Operator's liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

5. Intellectual Property

The original content of the Site — including the educational articles, the tool implementations, and the visual design — is the intellectual property of the Operator and is protected by copyright and other applicable laws.

You may:

  • View and use the Site for personal and commercial purposes;
  • Quote brief excerpts of the Site's content for purposes of commentary, criticism, education, or reference, provided you attribute the source.

You may not:

  • Republish substantial portions of the Site's content without permission;
  • Use the Site's content to train machine learning models without the Operator's prior written consent;
  • Claim authorship of or misrepresent the source of the Site's content.

Third-party software libraries used by the Site are the property of their respective owners and are used under the terms of their respective licences.

6. Third-Party Services

The Site may use third-party services, including but not limited to:

  • Hosting and content delivery provided by Cloudflare;
  • Email forwarding provided by Cloudflare Email Routing;
  • Web analytics, where applicable;
  • Advertising networks, where applicable.

These third parties are governed by their own terms of service and privacy policies. The Operator is not responsible for the practices of third-party services. Where third-party scripts are loaded by the Site, their use is disclosed in the privacy policy.

7. Changes to the Service

The Operator may modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time without notice. The Operator may also update the Site's content, including the educational articles and tool implementations, without notice.

8. Changes to These Terms

The Operator may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on the Site. The "Last updated" date at the top of these Terms indicates when they were most recently revised. Your continued use of the Service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

For material changes, the Operator will make reasonable efforts to communicate the change, including by updating the "Last updated" date prominently and, where appropriate, by displaying a notice on the Site.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction of residence apply.

10. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
